Greeting the New Year – Free the Body, Free the Mind : Michelle Jayne : January 2012

14 – 21 January, 2012

Start 2012 with a week’s yoga retreat that will prepare you for the opportunities and challenges of the New Year. And enjoy a fabulous New Year’s price of $1600.

Michelle’s practice seeks to help students work with the physical practice of yoga to embrace a mental change. This will vary enormously from person to person – for some it’s just a small step in stopping worrying unnecessarily about a detail of their life, for others it may be a much larger step towards freeing themselves from debilitating stress. If you’re balanced and content great! You’ll find ways to stay there. If you’re uncomfortable and fretting, we’ll explore how to challenge those stressors and find ways to move through them.

“Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever move forward to become the person they’re meant to be.”

You’ll begin to discover how your body reflects your thoughts and beliefs. Through asana (posture) work, we’ll explore those areas where you’re struggling, and develop a powerful new perspective on your abilities. It’s excellent for people with ongoing back pain, neck/shoulder pain, elbow/knee pain, or experiencing large amounts of stress during their work that has began to affect their body. Everyone has a path. Yoga is a way to not only build your physical strength, but also your mental and emotional strength. The only thing that is certain in life is change. Equip your mind, heart and body with the tools to move with change, letting go of resistance.

Fiji Yoga Retreats - Michelle Jayne

Programme
There will be two 2-hr sessions each morning. We start at 6.30am with an asana practice. After breakfast and a short break, we return for our 2hr workshop of meditation and exploration of the self. The rest of the day is for relaxing and enjoying yourself – snorkelling on the reef, taking a local excursion or just reading by the pool. If you have any questions about the week’s practice, please email Michelle at michellejl@optusnet.com.au.

Hatha yoga is translated as that which brings union, union between opposites; Ha meaning Sun and Tha meaning moon. In Indian tradition it is one of the four branches of Tantra Yoga, concentrating on the practice of postures (asana) and breath control (pranayama) to energise the subtle energy channels of the body (nadis). The objective of Hatha Yoga is to remove obstacles and address further steps towards sense withdrawal (Pratyahara), concentration (Dharana), meditation (Dhyana) and balance (Samadhi).

Vinyasa style yoga simple means the connection of postures through sequences and the breath. This assists the body in developing heat and works towards greater flexibility during your practice.

Testimonial:
Michelle is a very generous and enthusiastic teacher. She uses an holistic approach that is varied for each class. I love the voice work that is done in a supportive way, the quotes or mantras that can act as a compass and the place of offering that surrounds her teaching.
